“We appreciate our teachers and the difference they make in the lives of our students, and we are glad they chose Alief ISD,” says Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays. From the early years of preschool to the final stages of high school, teachers play a pivotal role in shaping their students' minds, values, and aspirations.
“Teachers are the heart and soul of our educational system; serving as mentors, guides, and role models to the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators.”, expressed Trustee Rick Moreno. “I will always hold a deep gratitude in my heart for the unwavering dedication and boundless love that the teachers in Alief showed to my children.,” he added.
Teacher Appreciation Week provides an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our teachers. All campuses across Alief ISD prepared special treats and surprises to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of educators to our schools, communities, and society as a whole. “As educators, we are like beacons of hope, guiding our students through storms and celebrating their victories with unwavering grace. With each lesson taught, each word of encouragement spoken, and each moment of connection shared, we plant seeds of possibility that bloom into endless opportunities.”, said Janece Simpson, district Secondary Teacher of the Year.
One of the most remarkable qualities of teachers is their ability to inspire and empower. Through their words and actions, teachers instill a love of learning, foster curiosity, and ignite a passion for discovery in their students. They create safe and supportive learning environments where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to take risks and pursue their dreams. “Let us remember today that we do more than teach the students. We equip them with the knowledge and power they need to change the world, which is why teachers are the REAL superheroes!”, stated Rhaniece Choice, district Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Beyond the classroom, teachers serve as advocates and champions for their students, advocating for their needs and interests and providing guidance and support every step of the way. They celebrate their students' successes, lend a listening ear during times of difficulty, and serve as beacons of hope and inspiration in their lives. “Our teachers are the heart of every success that we experience. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to lead and love such amazing people, our teachers!”, said Dr. Brandi Brotherton, Alief ISD Secondary Principal of the Year.
Whether it's staying late to provide extra help, spending weekends grading papers, or investing their own resources to enhance the learning experience, teachers go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of their students. “Teachers are truly our greatest asset! Our appreciation for them could never be measured in one week. They are change agents and difference makers, and it is an honor to serve alongside them.”, said Sara Caldwell, Alief ISD Elementary Principal of the Year.
Thank you, teachers, for all you do! We love you!
