Class of 2024: A Class Like No Other

Several years ago, a group of young students entered elementary school for the first time, brimming with curiosity, anticipation, and maybe a bit of anxiety. As they progressed, those classrooms became a second home to them, and alongside their peers, they not only learned academic lessons but also important values such as friendship, hard work, and perseverance. Today, they are about to close this chapter and embark on a new journey into young adulthood.
According to Director of Digital Learning Brian Gonzalez, the class of 2024 is a remarkable and resilient group; having successfully navigated a unique high school experience that included remote learning, public health protocols, and new methods of learning. "We are proud of our graduates, who are strong, adaptable, and ready to take on the world!,” says Gonzalez.
Our seniors have excelled in various areas, including sports, arts, and community service. Whether it's winning championships as athletes, showcasing their artwork in galleries as artists, or making a difference in the community as volunteers, each student has left a lasting impact on the school and beyond.
Renferd Joseph, Director of Fine Arts, reflects on the past four years with pride. "I've watched these students grow into incredible young adults. They've shown resilience, creativity, and a commitment to making a difference throughout our community and beyond. It's been an honor to be part of their journey here in Alief."
“Time and time again, you must remind the world of who you are; this only becomes challenging if you lose sight of yourself,” said Aisha Fatusi, valedictorian at Alief Early College High School. “I hope whatever you choose to do post- high school, fulfills you to the fullest extent,” added Caleb Adams, valedictorian at Alief Taylor High School.
As they prepare to graduate, these seniors face a mix of excitement and uncertainty about their future. Some will continue their education at colleges and universities, while others may enter the workforce, take gap years, or pursue vocational training. Regardless of their paths, they will carry with them the valuable lessons learned from their unique high school experience.
Everett Hare Sr., Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, expressed his pride in the graduating Class of 2024 as a reflection of the entire Alief community's dedication to education and student achievement. "We are incredibly proud of our graduates and extend our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to their educational journey," says Hare.
As the valedictorian of Elsik High School, Ana Colin, reminds her fellow classmates, the Class of 2024 is the change they want to see in the world. "Believe it," she says, "Enjoy the butterflies, nerves, and pressure, make great memories with those you meet along the way, and enjoy the process of self-discovery, as the future is ours to shape."
Congratulations, Class of 2024! Your journey is just beginning, and while we will miss you. The world is eagerly awaiting the impact you will make.
